Hi Helper

When attempting to create a new report, File, New, I select Custom report and then click "data file". This then prompts me for the db file. When I select it, it prompts me for "Microsoft Access password". I have not set passwords for the db but it still prompts. I have also created some test db's but it still prompts me for a password.

If I try an exhisting db that came with my W2K cd I have no problem....

If I click cancel from the password prompt I get a message
"Error recognising file"
"File "path' is not a know database type. please choose again"

Please help as I dont have any hair or nails left???

Hi,
I am a bit confused. Is this happening in Access 2000? In virtually all flavors of Access (95, 97, 2000, 2002), you should see a set of options (found generally on the left side of your window) that will display the following:
Tables
Queries
Forms
Reports
etc.
If you click on the Reports item, you will then have a chance to click on the "New" button. A wizard will then help you select the source of the data (presumably a table or query within your Access database).
