Creating New Contact in outlook 2007

Hi there

Each time I create a new contact that has a business fax number outlook creates a new contact with the bus fax in the email box. This means I have duplicate records - one with an email address and one with a bus fax number instead of an email. Very confusing

Any ideas?

If you're actually seeing two contacts in the Contacts folder, I'm not able to replicate that, but I do know why when you click the "To:" button in a new message you see the contact twice.

Fax number is seen by OUtlook as simply another way to communicate, so it rightfully gives you the opportunity to use it. If you don't send faxes from your computer, here is a simple workaround: preface each fax number with something like Fax: , or F: or something. Outlook will recognize that the entry is not in a valid format and will not display the fax number when you click "To:".

Alternatively, you could use some other field to store fax numbers.
