Dear
I have MS windows 2003 on which MS SQL Server 2005 Express edition has been installed during installation it asked for the instance name and i choose named instance as SQLExpress
and now Altiris Deployment solution 6.8 is running on it.

Now my question is i want to install sophos antivius enterprice console on the same server ,which also runs on SQL.so i need to create a new instance as SOPHOS.To do this do i need to install the whole sql setup again and create new instance or is ther any recommedded way to create a new instance.
will this give any conflict between Altiris and Sophos
Any snap shots or information will be greately appreciated

Many Thanks

Does the app need a whole new instance or just a DB to point at (which could be created in your current SQLExpress instance).

If it needs its own instance, you will have to run through the setup once again and enter your new named instance of SOPHOS.

I am not sure there is any way around this but the 2nd install of SOPHOS should not take as long since many of the prerequisits for installation have already been hammered in place by your initial install.

Remeber to make sure you take a peak at your resource allocations per instance on your server. You would not want the SQLExpress instance eating all the resouces away from the SOPHOS instance and visa-versa.

Thanks
