Creating Hyperlinks in a protected form within Word

I am using a form created in Word which utilises drop-down boxes, check boxes and text fields. I need to create hyperlinks within the form which link to existing procedures. This I have done and the hyperlinks work fine provided the form is in an unprotected state. Obviously once the form is protected the hyperlinks no longer work. Is there any way to make the hyperlinks work in a protected form?

"to existing procedures"

What does that mean? VBA code? I don't understand.

Here's my workaround from last time I had a user trying to create hyperlinks in a protected form--they don't work.

Insert a form field where you want to "go to" if a place in the doc.

Make the size of the font on that form field just 1 point. Give it a meaningful bookmark name.

Now, record a macro that goes to that bookmark.

Now, View-Toolbars-Control Toolbox. Click on the design view button. Put a command button instead of the hyperlink. Tell the command button to run the macro you recorded.

Close design view, protect the form, and test it.

Many thanks! Sorry about the confusion reference existing procedures - I actually meant other word docs that this particular form points to. Anyway, thanks for the advice. I shall try this out now. Thanks for the prompt reply.:-D

I have the same type of document, however, my procedural document contains links to bookmarks within the form. The form is locked and the procedural document is locked for comments (Under Tools, protect document, select comments). The hyperlinks go to bookmarks within the locked form. You could probably also lock the form the same way I locked the procedural document and it will work the same way. This way, you don't have to run a macro.

(PS: Cloud, a little bird told me that this same question is at Experts-exchange. I answered the same way there. However, someone else DID say that you could insert a continuous section break, insert your hyperlink, then insert a continuous section break again. I HATE that idea even though I know it works, because then when you protect the form, you have to choose all the sections you want to protect, etc. Now, it might work ok if you have, say, 5 hyperlinks. But if you have dozens, yuk.)

Thanks for the extra info guys. See what you mean about messy Dreamboat. I would have to do that for nearly 30 hyperlinks - could get a little tedious. Still, problem has been resolved so no need for me to try it - whew!
