A client recently asked me to create an HTML email design that he can use in an email marketing campaign. As a test I created an HTML page. To place it in MS Outlook as an email, I right-click-copied the page and pasted it into a new Email message. The message was sent to the client and it worked great. So great that now I have an order to create the whole project.

My questions are:

1. Where are Outlook Email files stored in my system?
2. How does HTML Email carry the graphics that make up the page? Subfolders?
3. What do I use to edit an Email message?
4. How do I deliver the Email to the client after I have created it?

Any help that can push me in the right direction would be appreciated.

I suggest creating the site first then on your browser, select File/Send/Page by email.

That would be the easiest way, to control your images, emails, etc...

Do you want to do bulk emails? I would suggest using Perl. Usually images in HTML are not included in the email, but rather linked from a web server.

I'm also interested in creating HTML emails, but have been unsuccessful. I tried opening a published Web page in my browser to send it, but...

1) IE v5.1 (Mac) doesn't have a "SEND FILE" option.

2) When I "SEND FILE" in NN v.4.6 (Mac) it only sends the text - no images. (I'm wondering if the Web page must be built with absolute paths to the images. Is this correct?

philksr, You can do this easily with Outlook Express. I currently use Outlook Express 5.5 and it well for me.

You have to create the HTML web page first as you would create a normal web page.

Secondly, make sure you hard-link the graphics i.e. Although, you may also insert the graphics by using the insert option in Outlook, after the code has been copied into Outlook Express.

Thirdly, copy the HTML code and past the code in the source option in Outlook Express. (There are edit, source, and preview options in Outlook Express). Once the code is there, you can edit or preview, then send. Your html email should be accepted by the following programs!

iVillage Free Email
Netscape Communicator
Eudora Pro 4.0
Microsoft Outlook
Most free Web-based email accounts such as Hotmail.com and
Mail.yahoo.com

Programs that will not accept your html email are:

AOL
CompuServe
Eudora Pro 3.0

Good Luck!
