I am going to be developing Cold Fusion and Java Web applications that will be using Oracle 9i on Solaris server.

How does it work with creating databases? I assume I can create several if not hundreds of small schemas on our one Oracle 9i Database and each schema is called an instance?? And each database I create will have a login and password or I can choose not to have them and leave them blank?

Please advise if the Toad DB tool is the best Client GUI tool for creating schemas and managing my databases.

Your understanding of Oracle architecture is quite far from the reality. The words are correct but their meanings..

I suggest you to learn Oracle basics first. You may find Oracle manuals on tahiti.oracle.com

Thanks,

Until I get Toad GUI tool, is there a way I can use MS Access 2000 to create my schema on my Windows 2000 local workstation? Or do you advise any other way to do this such as SQL plus? Is there a SQL plus tool that automatically comes with the database on Solaris that I can use to connect to the Oracle 9i database from my Windows 2000 workstation?
