Creating custom shape with star and rounded rectangle

I'm trying to create a rounded rectangle with a star shape inside. I've put a jpg of the the shapes here:



I can't find any way of removing the pointed bits which stick out of the rectangle.

Can anyone give me some one please tell me how it can be done? Thanks in advance!

try pathfinder tool > crop, may need two boxes the same position first one for the crop and another for a border.
