Hi!

I am about to create a database that is web and client based. So, I should create a form that can be opened in the web and the notes client at the same time.
My idea is to create 2 separate forms with the same aliases but I am not so clear on how to implement this.
Please help.

Thanks so much and God bless!

You can do it that way, and you can design a single form to do both Notes and Web.

I do believe that it is slightly better to do it like you think because you can have views accessible from the Web that use a Form Formula to load the proper web-based form for viewing the document content.

That means that you can save the documents under the Notes form name, but still have Web users load the information correctly.

Unfortunately, aliases must be unique, so you cannot use the same on both forms. But with the Form Formulas, you don't need to.

Pascal.

thanks Pascal!
I will explore further on this.
God bless!

Actually, Notes will let you have two forms with the same alias - but it will only use the most recently-created!

You really have a choice here: either create two different forms, and, as Pascal suggests, probably get at them using Form Formulas (and, therefore, grabbing documents by way of the views). Or, alternatively, you can simply create a single form with both Notes & Web attributes, and use hide/when to switch out who sees what...I'm not sure I really recommend this if you don't have some time to throw at the problem, as it can be a bit fiddly...but does reduce the number of forms you have to maintain!
