Hi

Does any have an idea on how to create an auto stretch table in fireworks 4 , I want to make the top table of the website autostrech without the table loosing its design alignment , also anyone know a good tutorial on how to create the whole webpage layout with fireworks 4?

Appreciate it :)

Hey willya,
Fireworks is mainly a web graphics program and can be used to create entire layouts but only with fixed widths.

If you are attempting to use auto stretch tables you will need to use an HTML editor such as Dreamweaver. From what I understand you want the design alignment (graphics to the left and right) to stay stable and the content (text and info) to auto stretch. If you have an example of what you are looking to do or have this posted somewhere, it would help.

This can be done using Nested Tables and aligning Graphics in seperate tables Left or Right of the table designated as auto stretch. You would need to export seperate parts of the layout for the right and left graphical areas into HTML by themselves. Then combine them in Dreamweaver to create a webpage.

Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Thanks TJaron for reply.

What I would like to do is similar to the Apple or Hotmail website , where the design doesn`t change when the page is viewed in different resolutions :)

Hotmail achieves this by breaking the page up into tables within cells. You could do the same with Dreamweaver and Fireworks. Have a main table with cells for the left, middle "content", and right. Create a table with whatever you want to align right of the page when stretched. Place this table in the cell to the right of the "content" cell. Set the cell to the exact pixels you want. Do the same for the area to the left of the content. Now set the content cell to Autostretch rather than Fixed Width. This can be done in Dreamweavers Layout Mode by clicking on the cell and using the Properties Box. This should do the trick.

Hope this helps. Good Luck.
