I am new to Delphi 4. I want to write an application for salaries and general ledger. What tools
do I need (except the 'plain' Delphi 4)? I have BDE also, but is it enough for creating database
and all other stuff - forms, reports etc. ?
Thanks.

I would go for something more standard like Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle, instead of BDE

Hi!

But while you learn, or have no lots of many (for the SQL server+all the clients), you may use Paradox tables, I think. It is good for single use, or shared use on a network with maximum 5-8 users. The Paradox driver comes with BDE, thus you need no other install. Just go to the DatabaseDesktop and create the tables, or do it from your code. The most of standard sql (local sql) statements will run on Paradox tables.
Good luck. Bye, Otto.
