I can create an organization chart from an excel file, but was wondering how/if its possible to add a 'color' attribute to fill the position boxes when it gets drawn? An help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Jason

Yes you can do it.
For this you need edit some (or all) masters in "Organization Chart Shapes" stencil.
1) Add new Custom properties to master and name it Color. Set Value for it 1.
2) Change FillForegnd cell value, to =Prop.Color.
3) In Wizard window, when it asking add custom properties, add this new Color in Data file columns.
Now they colored by value.

But value in Excel file must be number's. You see this numbers in Visio Pattern (Tools>Color pattern)

Thanks for the response, I'm using Visio 5.0 and can't see a FillForegnd cell in the available sections to set it.. where should I look, I assume its in the Shapesheet?

In Fill Format section of ShapeSheet.
I don't use Visio 5, now, but for Visio 2000 it's not a new cell.

The version we have here has that option greyed out.. I have managed to get round it by creating copies of the shapes, in the colors I need! Its not a clever solution, but solves my problem. Thanks for you help
