I am creating a student list. I would like the report just to have the students name listed on the left hand side with columns that have no specific information. This report will be used for instructors to manually fill in marks. Does Crystal Reports 8.5 provide an excel type chart? Or do I have to manually create the rows and columns by using draw line. I've tried using a cross-tab report but won't let me create one. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Crystal won't generate columns where there are no fields or values to generate columns on.

Like you suggested, use the lines functionality - or, to promote consistency, drop an empty text object onto the report, format it so that it has a single line on left, and bottom. Copy the object, and paste adjacent as desired so that the boxes are adjacent to each other.

For the last box, activate a single border line on the right, too. You should use vertical guidelines to ensure that the boxes are flush to one another.

You could make a cross-tab and suppress the contents of the cells, leaving just the lines. Make your column field a formula that has as many options as you need columns. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting
