Creating an MDE file

Hows it going?
I'm trying to make an mde but the db is still opening as normal i.e. all design views allowed. it compiled perfectly and there seemed to be no problems i have hidden the design box in the original file as alot of the tables are linked fron sql7.
I've tried everything i am aware of (which isnt much) any ideas?
