I am totaly new to working with LDAP, but out firm is currently trying to create an internal address book, and LDAP is going to come into this in two ways.
Firstly we have a number of LDAP databases (the phone system, Novell's NDS, etc) and we want to be able to pull all this information into one place.
It has also been suggested that we make our final 'address book' LDAP compliant.
I thought I would ask here. What would be the best place to store our data. Everyone in out IT department have different ideas. Should in go into the NDS? could we put it into SQL server and make it LDAP complient from there? should we create a seperate LDAP server using someother software?
I know that LDAP is just the protocol, but how should I store the data. We are mainly a Novell system but do have MS-SQL servers which could be used.
I hope that some one can make sence of this and possible give some advice or pointers where I could start to look as the more I look the more I find out I don't know about this!!
Thanks very much
Rob
