I am trying to create an action that will automatically select the border around a photo, and then grow 30 pixels on each side. The problem I keep running into is that when I go to expand the selection, it makes the corners smooth and I need them to stay as sharp corners. Each file is 770 x 455 and the photos in each file are different sizes. Essentially Im trying to put a frame around each photo with an action. Hope I didnt confuse anyone. [sig][/sig]

Check to see if feather is checked in your Rectangular Marquee tool options. If so, uncheck it.

Hope this works!

I have a feeling that the operation of increasing the size of a selction makes it fuzzy .. you could try the above tip, or running a "smooth" on it after the scale. [sig][/sig]

If these don't work, try setting up an action that fills the selection in a new layer, then applies a free transform to it, make sure that when you do the free transform that the resampling mode is set to "Nearest neibour" and then you should get a scale that's totally CLEAN .. not even anti-aliased. Check to make sure that the Smooth option is set to 0 within the Select>Modify menu.

Hope this helps.
