I've been searching this forum for a while looking for ways to create an instance of an activeX Object, or COM or OLE whatever you want to call it.

Is there any way to create an instance and call it's methods & properties from inside java (sun)

I've also heard of JNI but have no experience or knowledge of it.

Thanks in advance,

Okay, I've been poking around a bit more and let me see if I understand this coming from a microsoft world....

Are java beans conceptually the same as activex objects?

I saw in another post that one may use the JavaBeans ActiveX bridge that will register a bean like an activex component with windows.

Is all this correct? If so then I may have a solution of rather than making my business logic module an ActiveX component then work a front end from a java class servlet and through VB. I'll just create a JavaBean that is native to a javaclass servlet and can be exposed like an ActiveX component to create my VB Front end as well.

It's almost too easy.....

Again please let me know if my logic is correct about what a bean is...
