OK, hobbiest Delphi programmer using D5 Pro here.

When I was first learning Delphi many, many moons ago (learning on D3 Pro), the instructor at the time showed us how to create a project inside what I think was an ActiveX component and then he brought the resultant application up inside Internet Explorer.

Is there a tutorial for doing such a thing about ? I'd be interested in seeing if I could do it.

Also, how flexible is this? Can you hook it to a database (the app I have in mind is using the BDE/Paradox.

Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

Thanks
Steve

As a general rule databases and web pages don't go together. You are best to take what you want from the db in a read, then on post of the record change check if the value in the db has changed and deal with it by either posting the changes or not depending on whether or not the underlaying dataset has changed in the meantime. Data aware controls cause all kinds of problems - say you lock the record for the on-line user, then they just close their browser one locked record that wont be getting unlocked.

Don't know about the Active-X control you refer to do, have used Intraweb ( )which seemed to work fairly well, though at the time it had quite a few bugs. It simplifies the data access side of things.
