I have a field created from a query by where it lists the weeks overdue for members of staff.

I would like to query this one stage further and count how many records are 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 6 weeks, 8 weeks etc are overdue. I know how to query in order to bring up the result for each query (i.e <=2 etc etc) but how can you count how many of each that you have and then display this in some form of logical table for viewing purposes?

Any ideas on displaying the totals as well as creating a suitable chart or transporting the data into Excel maybe to work on it further.

Thanks in advance,

Marcus

Hi Marcus,
If you already have a query that is giving you staff, and weeks overdue, use it as the basis for a chart in Access. Let a chart wizard (Forms-New-Chart Wizard) sort this out for you. This is a wonderful feature in Access and is so quick and easy, if you don't like the results, delete and try again. You may need to modify your query a little to show the count by selecting the Totals (sigma symbol) on the tool bar, and testing group by options such as count in the column for number of weeks overdue. Remember, if it gets too hairy, Make a new query off of the results of your first query. This is perfectly acceptable. Excel? I'll say why bother.. there is nothing in Excel that can't be done in Access and in truth, then some. I've always thought of Access as the 3D Excel. If you don't want a chart you can create a form based off of your "second" query. Again, wizard built in a flash. Give it a shot and if you need some help, write back anytime. Gord
