I'd like to be able to create a standby server that will allow me to do the following:

1. Copy all of the printers from the source server to the standby server. Is there a utility somewhere that can do this?
2. I also want to retain the same computer name as the source.

Has anyone done this before?

thanks alot!!!

1. Resource kit util call "PRINTMIG.EXE" will do exactly what you want.

2. You can build the server up with the same name providing it is not connected to the same network as the other server with the same name.
When you have to fail over to the standby server, you will need to add it to the domain.

Mike, isn't it printimg.exe or have my notes got a typo?????

For adding the standby server you first need to remove the existing one from the domain.

Zelandakh, it is PRINTMIG.EXE for sure.
The Windows 2000 resource kit contains a new version, with some nice enhancements. Very cool utility.
