Hello everyone, so i got this issue going on that i cant manage to solve. I have a shield-shaped logo into which i want to incorporate a sort of texture fill. The thing is that i managed drawing, using a tutorial, a very nice looking 3d sphere. Well it isn't really 3d because it's just a play on the colors. Anyways, as you imagine the shield and the sphere aren't exactly the same shape but i would like to fill the shield in, not by cutting out parts of the sphere but by making the sphere sort of egg-shape or even so that it automaticaly fills into the shield by stretching and skewing intself into place. Thank you for any help.

P.s. if you want the thing for the spere here it is:
it's in some cyrilic language but it's still very understandable from the drawings.

Power clipping the sphere into place would be the easiest, and probably best result.

However, a more customized method would be to take the same methods that you created the sphere, and visualize how a 3-D spherical shield would reflect light, and where the hi-lights would fall across the surface. OF course, instead of pie sliced shapes, they will be more angular. If you want to see what these would look like, convert your shield with a solid fill to a bitmap, apply a mask from object, shrink the mask by about 25%, then apply the Boss tool. Stretch the embossing as tall as it will go by setting the sliders to their max (it also helps to set the view to "2-pane" mode - or whatever they call it). This will over-emphasize the highlight shapes and areas. Just play with it until you see what the shapes will look like, and where they will best fit. You may have to open the image in Photopaint to use all these features.

Thank you attrofy.
For the power clipping it doesn't really help, but the second solution you proposed sounds great but i get stuck at the part where i need to apply the boss tool. I simply can't choose it from the effects menu. Actually none of the effects are accesible. I checked if the shield was in bitmap many times and i tried all sorts of things. If you could just tell me what the problem is, it would be just fantastic. I will get through the rest by myself

I am guessing you have opened the bitmap in Photopaint. You need to first create a mask before most of the effects menu tools will work. You can do this by going Mask > Create > Mask from object, but this can have some confusing effects. I would suggest starting with some basic shapes in Photopaint, and try to use the boss tools on those. Once you see how the Boss tool changes areas outside of the masked portion, it will be self explanatory what you need to do with your shiled. It isn't hard to understand, but you must realize that it is raising areas outside of the masked area. THis is no problem, unless your object and mask are the same size. THen it seems most of your work has no effect.

I would suggest starting with the background, just splash some color stokes all together in a common area, then mask off a random shape. Make sure all of your objects are on one layer, and if you end up with multiple objects, combine them with the background so you see how the mask and tool work together. It works well for showing raised or indented effects, just depending on light source direction, and if you invert your mask before applying the tool. Hope this helps, if you need more info, let me know.
