Creating a Search Engine

Hey Guys
I am new to VB so here goes

I would like to create a database for a visual basic application now my understanding is that I could use Microsoft database to link a text box in visual Basics
now I would like to know how to first link an access database to a textbox in Visual Basics and second I would like to also create a search engine in visual basics so that I could type in a word or any part of a word in my access database.

If this can be done please let me know or if there is another way of doing this I am all ears.
