creating a scanable barcode in excel

can someone help me to create a code that will allow a chosen field to change typed text into code39 barcode text and contain the pre and post asterixes ie I type in Columb A 9g547fd and it is auto changed to *9g547fd* and changes to font Code39?

any help would be gratefuly received

Hi,

All you need is a BARCODE FONT. It must be the fomt for the type of barcode your reader can read.

Additionally, you will need to know what the preface and post face number your reader uses. Skip is correct, there are many bar code fonts out there for free.

If you would like to be able to read the barcode do a simple this cell = this other cell. IE: A1 is normal text and B1 is barcode font. in B1 set the formula as =A1.
