Hi,

I am trying to create a make_recovery tape for an HP-UX 11.00 server which does not have a DDS tape drive attached to it. Anyone out there successful in writing the archive file to another server's DDS drive?

Thanks,
mkapsak

Hi there.

I think you'll have to specify a regular file using the -d (destination) option and then transfer that file to the system with a tape drive attached using ftp.

Given that you're creating a recovery tape for a system with no tape drive - it might be more useful for you tp configure another system as an Ignite server - which would remove the need for tape drives altogether, your box could be recovered over the network.
