SQL Macola v7.5.103f. Trying to add a new search name to the note_1 field on the Item Master maintenance screen. We use the note_1 field to assign a value from a table in another database. The search name on the screen set is IM-FOCUS-GROUP. I created a new search with the name IM-FOCUS-GROUP, search number is 1. The search table is actually a view in the Macola database viewing 2 fields from the table in the non-Macola database. However, when I press the binoculars I get the message, "No search selections defined for this field". This feels like I missed a setup step somewhere. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Assuming that the search was defined correctly and a return value was defined for the search, everything seems fine to me. I have never defined a custom search with a search ID that is long is yours, so you may want to try shortening it, but I highly doubt that is the problem. If you want to check your work, I wrote a lengthy explanation on how to define custom searches some time ago in this group. You may want to compare your work against that in order to make sure you did everything you need to.

Thanks for the suggestions. I reviewed your explanation prior to starting this thread. I did re-check and found my search edit matched your instructions. I also found other searches with names even longer than mine. Still stuck...still looking for ideas..

I tested your scenario and had no problems. The only way I could reproduce the error message that you are receiving is if the search name defined in the screenset does not match up with an actual search defined in the Screens.sqlsrch_sql table. I would suggest validating this information.

If this information is all correct, I would suggest verifying that the screens database is defined correctly in the following configuration files.

<Macola Server Install>\MacSql\macsql.cfg
<Local Client>\Windows\macola7.ini

If this information is correct, then I would suggest designing a new Item Master screenset from the default Macola provides and try adding the note 1 field and the search to the screen.
