Creating a Network with two Linksys Wireless routers on two subnets

Hi,

I'm trying to create a network with 7 PCs, one server running Windows 2000 server, rest with XP Pro with two wireless routers. I need to create two subnets, one for upstairs, one downstairs. I came up with the following idea:

Server is connected to Router 1 which goes out to Comcast wirelessly and has the real, public IP address of the network. Server is PDC and two client PCs connect via static IP with the routers IP address out as the default gateway, this will be subnet A with an IP range of 192.168.1.0-255

Router 2 will also be wireless, and will be Subnet B which the other PCs will be a part of, DHCP will be off on both ends except the Server, and the IP range will be 192.168.2.0-255 and also static with the default gateway as the same IP as Router 1

Do I need to do anything else or is this solution workable?

Thanks

chrismc410,

The gateway for the 192.168.2.0 network should be 192.168.2.1 (or whatever you have assigned to router 2.

Router 2's gateway will be router 1's IP - R1 and R2 should have a common interface such as R1 192.168.1.1 and R2 192.168.1.2

Is this what you have?

Code:
                      A 192.168.1.0
Comcast ----- R1 1.1------------------------1.2 R2
            1.3 1.4 1.5 2.1
             | | | B 192.168.2.0 | | |
            SER PC1 PC2 2.2 2.3 2.4
                                              PC3 PC4 PC5

You might want to post a diagram for more details. But basicly PCs 3-5 talk to R2 and R2 talks to R1 and R1 talks to Comcast. The server and 2 PCs on 1.0 all talk to R1, which talks to Comcast.

Hope this helps!
