Hi all,

This has been on the planning table for quite a while.

Background

I have 12 staff here in my office. There are 4 different variations of 'Frontends' used (different reports/forms/queries for sales & accounts departments) & it is getting to a point now where to maintain all of these versions is taking up a huge portion of my time on a daily basis.

I would like to create one master version & then distribute these versions onto each machine with a login form that the user must type a user name & password to gain access.

Does anyone know of any suitable way (in table form?), that I could restrict which user views a form/report/query on their Frontend versions, based on the login?

Any direction given would be a bonus!

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I would suggest that you make one FE for all users, but assign them to different workgroups. On opening the FE, you first check the group and then open the appropriate form.

For distributing the FE you could use a batch- or exe-file. Check this thread for more on this subject:

You could (and should) set-up Access security for this.
