Creating a halo effect around letters

I creating a gif logo (which is just text) on a transparent background.

This logo will be place on sites where I have no control over the background color.

The text of the logo is black.

I would like to create a white halo around the text so if my logo is placed against a black blackground it will become visible because of the halo.

How do I create a halo around text?

I figued it out, i used the glow effect.
