Does anyone have any ideas if this is even possible?

No it is not. (with the standard idleout).

Please reread the man page on idleout.

In theory you could simulate what idleout does with another script, but this is well beyond your current level of understanding.

You could hire a consultant/programmer to do it for you.

I would be curious if the 3.2v4.2 idleout would plug in and run under 5.0.5.
That was assignable by user if I recall. Ed Fair

No , that is not an option. Went into a 4.2 , and also into a Xenix system to see if there was any difference. None that I can see. So the mind played another trick on me. Ed Fair
