Creating a group in AD that can be searched as a base DN

Confusing question isn't it?

Well, I'm using a program that connects to AD through LDAP, and it uses a base DN to do the searches.

I wish I could assign a group to certain users so those are the only ones appearing in that search.

I tried something with LDAP Browser:

1. First I created a group in the AD named Jive
2. Then I added some users to that group
3. In LDAP Browser I tried a connection to the server using this base: CN=Jive,DC=domain,DC=ext

The result was "object not found".

Well, I want to do this because I'm using Jive Messenger, and I want it to allow connections only to the users I specify, thus the group approach.

If anyone can help me, I'll be extremely grateful!
