Hello all,

I'm a little new to this side of the fence when it comes to TCP/IP protocol and Ethernet, but i need to know if it is possible to create or alter a file by sending Ethernet packets from something like a packet generator program (CommView).

What I'm working with is a serial to ethernet converter, and i need to know if I can convert this data into a text file. I'm not even sure if it can be done or what, so any help here would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Nick

You can use Wireshark to collect the packets and then convert them to a text file using the "Follow TCP stream" function.

It looks like CommView can probably do the same thing with the TCP Session function.

What are you really trying to do?
