creating a dynamic two-column page

i know how to make static two-column pages (either with tables or css), but i'm currently working on a page with variable content that is put together with asp. has anyone seen any examples of asp that allow a page to start putting text into one column and then switch to the second column when the first column has been filled up (met it's set height)?
