I have a Dell precision 380 computer. I want to use the onboard lan as the conection to the internet but I have a wireless card installe and want to use it to enable my laptop to see the internet too. Can I enable the wireless card (linksys PCI) to act as a DHCP server and give out IP addresses?

Just so i know i got this correctly,
You want to share the internet connection that the desktop has through the wired lan card, with the Laptop through the wireless connection.
If so you should check out Internet Conection Sharing or ICS.
The Wizard should guide you through most of the steps. needed.

However the connection between the Desktop and the laptop needs some configuring as wireless cards don't usually give out signals, but rather receive them.
The simpler alternative woiuld be to buy a chieve wireless router, and connect the internet ot the router, and then the PCs also to the router.

I agree, A wireless router would be a much easier way to go.
