Creating a database 7 Errors HELP :)

VERSION: Oracle 8i downloaded from Oracle last night from oracle site.

PC: Windows XP Pro AMD Athlon XP Mobile, Laptop PC patched up with windows update fully
MY SKILLS: None, first time seeing or installing oracle.

WORKFLOW:
I installed oracle with out errors by download, unzip to folder right click and make sure read and write are ok. Setup in disk1 folder, seemed to work fine. I did change the following file symcjit.dll to symcjit_disc.dll in this directory C:\stage\components\oracle.swd.jre\1.1.7.30\1\Data Files\Expanded\jre\win32\bin as advised buy some sites of people having trouble installing on XP. This seem to work fine, the install processed clean with out errors.

Then I open up Database Configuration Assistant and select create a database, then typical, then create new database files, the OLTP option. 2 Users etc...

It seem to go through each stage for sometime ticking each item and then started getting errors... All Errors have window title of: Oracle Database Configuration Assistant Alert. Here are the list of errors, what have I done wrong!

1st Error
ORA-12560: TNSrotocol adapter error

(I put my IP address in the hostfile and then name of the pc, ie. 192.168.1.31 lifebook
This error then did not come up when I quite out and started the process again.)

2nd Error
ORA-00604: error occured at recursive SQL level 1

3rd Error
ORA-01562: failed to extend rollback segment number 0

4th Error
ORA-01628: max # extends (249) reached for rollback segment SYSTEM

5th Error
ORA-29541: class SYS.oracle/aurora/rdbms/DbmsJava could not be resolved

6th Error
ORA-29541: class SYS.oracle/aurora/security/PolicyTableManager could not be resolved

x4 times unntil I hit abort

7th Error
! Undoing the database creation. Please wait...

I appricate the help, can even enable you to connect to my laptop if need be.... thanks

In fact 8i is not certified for XP. So with your skills in Oracle I'd suggest you to try 9i/XP or 8i/NT or any other certified combination. Though if you do need 8i on XP, you may try to install Java support manually (later). Increase java_pool_size and check disk requirements first.
