I am developing an ASP bulletin board application and I've put a lot of time and effort into it so far. I think I might have a pretty good product when I'm done, but I don't really know much about creating components (dll files) and that sort of thing. I'd like to package this thing up at some point and compile my code so I can sell licenses through my company. Would packaging up my major scripts into components be the best method?... and what's a good reference on how to get started?

I personally don't have experience using dll files however have heard they speed up the application by a good amount. However, if another reason exists to use them...how come you'd want to use dll files? If you are interested in obscurity, then you could encrypt your server side code before selling it using the W.H.S. That way you are selling your product and not your code. -Ovatvvon :-Q

WROX writes a fantastic book on this subject:

Beginning COM for ASP

or something like that. Makes a good read, and once you're finished, you'll have a solid foundation in what COM is all about, what it's used for, why you might use it, etc...

loads of working examples, and downloadable code from their website to compliment the book.

about $40 at your local bookstore, and well worth it.
