I originally submitted this to the Crystal list but thought it might be more relevant here.
I have to develop a report that prints labels for goods to be shipped and the quantity of labels to be produced must be determined by the quantity sold as detailed on the invoice.
I have set up two tables in Access as a "proof of concept" where I link a "Quantity Ordered" field in table 1 to a list of numbers as follows in table 2.
1
2
2
3
3
3
etc
In Access this works fine and I get the duplicate records I require.
When I set up similar tables using Pervasive (I created the tables in Pervasive.SQL Control Centre) I can establish the link in Crystal but the data from the second table is not shown in the report.
I notice a Btrieve tab on the designer screen, should I input anything here?
I have to prepare the report using Business Vision and Btrieve and when I link a pervasive table to the Btrieve file I can establish the link but there is no data in the report. I defined the pervasive table as Decimal, Precision 9 and Scale 3
The Pervasive tables end in .mkd and the Btrieve tables in Business Vision end in .btr, would this indicate an incompatability.
Any help or hints would be appreciated.

First off, the .mkd and .btr, file extenstion are not indications of file incompatability.

If I understand what you are trying to do, then, it sounds like the problem is in your join. Have both tables been added to the crystal report? Have you verified the join that Crystal created?

Personally I have never tried to use Crystal for what you are using it for. I have written something to create a temporary table then launched crystal and printed from that table. Personally I think its a shortcomming of Crystal to not allow the report to specifiy a varying number of copies of each page, but thats just my 2 cents.

GO the the Pervasive SQL control center and open up the database you wish to add this table to. Open up tables and click on Action, then New Table. The process is very straight forward.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the help, over the last 6 weeks I created about 12 files of different sizes and Decimal & Integer and Text types etc to test and none linked in Crystal. Today they all linked and I don't know what has changed!
Just glad it works

Sometime ago you e-mailed me a file called X Number of Labels.mdb and a Crystal report to
mike@accsys.ca.
I have had a lot of problems with that address and could not open the files.
If it is not too much trouble if you could try again to
mikepienaar@mail.com
I would appreciate it.
I will respect your confidentiality request

Many thanks once again

I have just discovered why it works!

I did it through ODBC, if you access the files directly through Database Files it does NOT work. I thought it was just my machine on version 8 but a freind with ver 8.5 cannot get the files to link either.

Maybe somebody else could try it?
