Hi

I would like to create a bootable cd(Startup).
I have win2000 server
I put the cd in and went to type the command makeboot
I tried telling the command to go to my cd writer but the application failed.

It only worked using the floppies.

How can I do this. I have read some info on here and PS I do
not have Nero nor do I want to buy it.

Is there another way?

Thanks
Hope

I think 2000 server defaults to the floppy drive... Is there a problem booting to the 2000 server cd?

Hi,

Thanks and yes you are right it does default to the floppy.

To me there is no problem booting from the cd however my boss wants an emergency repair disk and startup disks from our 2 main servers (on CD). We are having some work done on them and he is worried that they may mess things up so he is taking every precaution.

Hope

For what purpose you want this startup CD? Setup and repair you can do with original setup CD. And for critical data you should use backups. Emergency repair disk for Windows 2000 is not must have like it was for Windows NT4, instead you should backup System State in your regular backups.
