I was just wondering if it would be possible to create a backup CD of my current Norton Antivirus CD with the new virus definition on the CD (incorporated in).

Thx R.

Long story short there is a file called vdefhub.zip in the install files on the cd. The vdefhub is the virus defs that are put into place during a fresh install. All you need is to update this file and then burn it with the rest of the install files (onto a cd). I found the below forum with instructions on how to do this.

Pulled this from another forum:

"Anyway, the VDefhub.zip file is the one were interested in. It contains the virus definition files. To update it, just download the latest Intelligent Updater definition file from Symantec (Here), open the Intelligent Updater exe file with Winrar, copy the VIRSCAN.ZIP file out, rename it to VDefHub.zip and copy it over the original in the installer's folder. That's all you have to do. The VDefHub.zip is still in the root of an Administrative Install Point if you make one. Also for those who were wondering, Live Update appears to be up-to-date as well."
