Hi I am trying to create an overlay file from a PDF file? Does anyone know of a tool out htere that could help? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this?

I am printing on a HPLJ4200tn

Briefly:
(1) Open up the PDF file in (Acrobat) Reader or similar.
(2) 'Print to file' using an appropriate PCL5 printer (and hence printer driver).
(3) Remove from the generated file those sequences which would preclude its use as an overlay macro; examples of such would be: UEL escape sequences; PJL statements; PCL sequences which delete macros; etc.

I don't understand your second step.

Most Windows printer drivers have a 'print to file' check box in the 'print' dialogue. If this is selected, it causes the printer driver to write all the data and control sequences to a selected file (you will be prompted to provide a full path name) instead of sending the data and control sequences to the target device.

If you are not using Windows, then I assume that other operating systems will provide similar facilities.

I have a file but I am unsure what to remove.
