CreateIndex index processing failed - index files are missing, possibly due to a failover.

I keep getting this error on some of my the client computers (cluster is not configured neither). The media agents have a network share for the indexcache and the job results are saved locally on the client servers. Usually I kill the jobs and running a full backup seems to fix the problem but it keeps happening when it is time to run incrementals.

I appreciate any explanation why this is happening

Hi

During an incremental backup, CreateIndex.exe will access the most recent index and process this information for the current backup. This error is generated when CreateIndex is unable to properly process the existing index cache.

For example, in most cases a copy of the existing index cache is made to be used for the current backup. The most common cause of failure is a corrupt index cache, which CreateIndex is unable to process.

You can find further info about the error in the CreateIndex.log file on the MediaAgent.

In most cases this error affects only Incremental backups and running a new Full backup will resolve the issue. For example, if the failure was caused by a corrupt index, the new full backup will fix the problem by creating a new index from scratch.

If you are unable to address this issue by running a Full backup, then contact support with the log files for the problematic job for further investigation into the cause of the problem.
