While searching for a fast and effective way to make talking characters for Flash MX I ran across this facial animation software, CrazyTalk. You can load any JPG or BMP image into CrazyTalk to generate a talking character and then use their expression editor to add voice and emotion to the animation. CrazyTalk's best function for me is their automatic lip sync animation, which keyframes the mouth position by your voice, text-to-speech, or any wav. file.
