hi
I have a fax cover sheet setup below.

Attn:
From:
Re:
Fax number:
Page count:

Ive tried to create tables unsuccessfully(assuming a table is what I need). I want to be able to tab thru each line so the cursor drops to the next : in each line.
So at Attn: I want to type in name then tab to From: right after the :
Make sense?
Using Word 2007

Don't have 2007 so you'll have to look for the Forms toolbar. But in other versions:
You'll want to use the controls on the Form toolbar. Click View - Toolbars - Forms. Then type in a heading, eg. Attn:. Then Click the first button on the Forms toolbar, "Text Form Field". A shaded box will appear. Hit TAB the do the next heading and insert another Form field. When you're finished, click the last button with a lock - Protect Form. Now when you tab, the cursor only goes the the Form field. If you want to put criteria on the fields such as length, click the Form Field Options button and set the options.

Fneily sent me on right course, but had to open Developers tab in 2007, nice "hidden" little feature..
Open via File-Word Options(little radio button at bottom of screen)-Popular, show Developers tab in ribbon.

Sorry? Are you referring to the link on getting great answers? That is part of my signature. No, you did not post incorrectly.

The more I hear about 2007 the more I want to avoid it as long as possible. I used the beta and just hated it.

Formfields are a standard, much used, ability of Word to do exactly what you are asking about. Why they would hide that away is beyond me.

:) hee hee Fumei, didnt realize that was part of your sig.

I think office07 has a few of those hidden goodies laying around, guess they like 'easter eggs'...

Oh no, I disagree. I do not think it is easter eggs at all. I really think there is a push, a direction, to prevent (unapproved) people working with the stuff behind the interface. "They" do not want people (except approved development-type companies) - people like me - to be able to look at, and use, the inner workings.

Why, for example, was FileSearch removed from 2007? You used to be able to function within the operating system to perform file searching and other file operations. This is completely gone in 2007. They deliberately, consciously, removed a functioning and very useful feature used by many people.

Why? The usefulness is still there, the need for it is still there. But it was taken away from us. Perhaps 2007 is "better" for the average user (although I have my doubts about that as well), but it sure as heck is worse for those of us who are serious users, who dive into the guts and make it sing.

It croaks now, IMO.

Sorry....I should know better than to rant.
