I would like to create a report that resembles the following layout:

Microsoft Calendar Template

but be dynamic enough to populate with data that is stored in my database. The idea is to resemble the month calendar print in outlook where data populates in each box. The boxes don't shrink or grow... just display the data as is or shrink the text to fit all in the day box.

Is it possible?

Check the calendar report samples at You create a monthly calendar that displays your data records and grows as needed.

Dhookom, I do like what you have done. But what I am looking for is a full month calendar view. I want every date to be visable, even days where no data is for (this includs weekends).

It would look like the link example I gave above from Microsoft Calendar Template.

I want it to look like the Outlook month view/print calendar.

Hope this helps with what I am looking for and if it is possible through Access.

Rob

You only need to add weekend dates to the calendar style schedule. This means adding a couple copies of the subreport and filtering the main report to a particular month.

You will find 5 copies of srptCalendar for each detail section (weekof) on the main report. If you add two more copies and set up the link master/child properly, you will get a full month.

true I could add weekend dates, but the output is not what I am expecting. I really would like the output to look just like Outlook (month view) prints like... the boxes don't grow or shrink with or without data.

You can set the subreport heights in my sample and set their can grow/shrink to No.

Why would you not want the calendar to grow if you have enough content on a date that would cause the calendar to grow?

You could count the items in the subreport date and possibly show "More Items" like Outlook but I feel that would be less functional than a calendar report that expands to show all scheduled events.

The calendar samples are great.

How would you modify the one dealing with ship captains

so that there was more than one ship per captain? (I know that doesn't make sense within the realities of shipping, but what I'm looking for is a way to manage teammates overseeing multiple projects.)

There is nothing in the report setup or tables that prohibits a captain working on more than one ship. If a ship has more than one captain then you might need to number/order them so they don't draw on top of each other.
