Hi,

I want to distribute an application (built in excel97) I made. And I would like to use an registration key or a method which allows the user to install the program once.
Basically I want to have the control on who is using the software, so no wild copies are distributed.

Any ideas?

Number of solutions, deending on exactly what you are trying to do.

When you say "wild copies", do you mean that a user can not pass on the app?

One way, would be to pick up the user login name usdinh Windows API and (assuming you an get a list of usernames) verify the uername is legit; check for the existence of your app, and if not existihg, do your install. If not, refuse to install. That way you could resist and install to known users.

Again, I am not sure what you man by wild copies. Are you concerned about users altering your code? If so, lock it so they can't.
