Need suggestions on how to create Org Charts using Crystal 8. I have all the data I need in a database but don't know if it is possible to use Crystal to complete this task. I have looked at other software but it is very pricing.

Any suggestions

You can do nice text boxes and line using any modern version of Microsoft Word, if you have it. I'd be surprised (and fascinated) if Crystal could manage it. You could use it to lay out the raw data, which you could then export to Word or Excel for a tidy-up.

In CR8 there is a feature called "Hierarchical Groups" that is designed for organisation charts. You need to group on the key field for each employee, and for each employee, have a field that points to the next employee up the chain.

Does not support people with multiple bosses, and the data only works with fields in the DB. you can't use a formula to build the hierachy.

CR8.5 added the option to sum up the hierarchy, in case you are interested.

We've covered this topic in several issues of Crystal Clear.
