Is there a way to recreate the default virtual drive M: that houses the Installable File system ??????

I am trying a pilot disaster recovery on an Exchange 2000 system, and it (the backup program) refuses to restore drive M: ...... and the restore utility won't recreate it even though I have done a full restore including System State .... bizarre but if u can help it would be great.
