Create Microsoft style online help

Hopefully someone can help, I am trying to create a help section for my web site that functions similar to that of Microsoft products (Excel 2000), i.e. you hit help, and it resizes the main window (reduces width by 10%), and opens up the 'help' vertically along side it.

also, msdn has plenty of tutorials on "how to do like ... (excel, word, any ms crap)"
