Is there a simple way to create a log file of people logging in?
I have tried NWLOG in a login script and also in profiles without success.

In short, no. You need an auditing tool that can monitor changes in NDS. Whenever someone logs in, this info is written to their user object in NDS. If you have a tool to capture it, you're set. Novell has some auditing tools that they have since discontinued, so you're probably better off with a 3rd party solution like NVMonitor from NetVision.
