My create database failed with the following error:
ORA-00443: background process "CJQ0" did not start.

Searches on the error come up with the cause being "The specified process did not start." The solution: "Ensure that the executable image is in the correct place with the correct protections, and that there is enough memory."

This is the 8th database creation on this server in the past 3 months. I have not run into this before.

Any pointers for what and where I should look for the "executable image"? Nothing should have changed. And, what can I check with regards to "enough memory"? Neither should be an issue.

Thanks for any tips!

You should better use the Database Configuration Assistant (dbca) to create the database. [3eyes]

Thanks for the input! We actually used the assistant in the beginning, then used the scripts generated from the assistant to just modify and use for creating our subsequent instances.

In grinding through the problems over the last week or so, we've discovered that with the increased memory usage of the 10g instances, we've tapped out the resources on the server. I've been monitoring memory usage and swap utilization and, if I keep it below 90%, everything is fine.

Thanks again for the input!

Well, good luck! [thumbsup2]
