We have three databases in Oracle server.

I need some summary tables developed for these databases that show me the information of tablespaces, schemas, storage amounts, etc.

It is building data dictionary.

I know there is build-in data dictionary. May I create my own data dictionary or just change catproc.sql or caralog.sql under \ORACLE_HOME\RDBMS\ADMIN? And how to do it?

Thanks.

Jen

You could write a script to pull the information from various tables using joins. However, as you say, most of the information about the database components is already available in tables such as dba_tables, dba_tablespaces etc.

Jennifer,

What is there about the native Oracle data dictionary that is lacking for your summary needs? Why are you wondering, "May I create my own data dictionary?"
