I wish to create a clustered enviroment with windows server 2003 on a ESX server 3.0.1, I need to have a RAW drive mapping for the data I wish to be accessed in a 24/7 enviroment.
Will I need to install the windows SAN tools on the windows 2003 servers, to enable this to work correctly.

SAN Tools, not that I am aware of. Since you are using ESX, you need to install the OS drives of your VMs on the Physical Host (the ESX server). The OS drives for cluster nodes cannot live on the SAN. Your Clustered Shared disk resources (VMDK) will be created on the SAN. You can build a cluster in a One Physical Server or Multiple Physical Server VMware Farm. There is a white paper on the VMWare site that explains this in more detail...

A more accurate desciption would be that, by default, shared disks in an MSCS cluster cannot be on the same bus as the boot device. Even with this said, you can alter Windows 2003 to allow shared disks on the same bus as the boot device; see
